The Consolidated Remains of the Barracks

 [ The consolidated remains ]

That portion of the excavated officer's quarters that lies outwith the footprint of the parish centre extension has been consolidated and placed on public display. The northernmost rooms of the building have been restored to show Roman ground level, the flagging in the north-east room restored to its original position. The cobbling in the foreground marks the course of the via vicinaria, whilst that on the right represents the via sagularis, the street which ran around the inside of the ramparts of the fort.
