It lasted throughout the tenth week and, despite some weak sunshine, temperatures never strayed above freezing during the day. The ground was frozen solid and the ice in the Rainbird trench was thick enough to stand on. The traffic cone was a weekend offering from some natives, grateful for our elucidation of their cultural origins...
